Staying fit while traveling with Le Stoff

[Product Placement] When you travel alone, staying fit feels easy and on point. When you travel in groups it might be a bit challenging. In my visit to the Mexican Caribbean Mayan Riviera I took of my favorite  Le Stoff towel and one resistance band with me. I knew I will be training at the beach and the closest monkey bar I would found.

KEEP A FOOD AND FITNESS JOURNAL

Even though keeping a good and fitness journal during holidays might sound not fun at all, I can tell you, if you write down how you behave, you will see the big pic and be more aware of your habits and decisions.

I get you, giving you time for a quick workout or movement practice might become difficult if you are not traveling alone. What I did was to sneak out to the closest space I could use to hang, push, hinge and squat.

ENJOY THE SURROUNDINGS AND PEOPLE

When you are visiting a new place, a new culture, a new sport could be exhausting but mostly enjoyable. The people around play a wonderful roll in getting to know yourself, your fitness and nutrition habits. Enjoy the fresh local food, eat mangos where there are mangos, drink coconut water when there are coconuts, eat lobster when the local fishermen catch it that day. We did that and it was so connecting to the location and people. Besides, it is not processed or SAD food.

MOVE YOUR BODY AS MANY WAYS AS POSSIBLE

Move your body as many ways as possible, take a run on the beach, stretch your body, take morning and night swims. I planned to move as much as possible even though it was hot weather and long distances, maybe that is why I look like a charcoal now. Every morning after having our green smoothies and breakfasts we walked as much as possible to our day destination. We walked to the beach, to the local market and to the public transport we had to take for traveling to the next magic town.

SIGN IN TO LOCAL SPORT ACTIVITIES

As soon as possible I signed in to my host yoga studio for some yoga and to the local capoeira practices, lucky me both classes were one after the other 2 times a week so I ended up a bit exhausted but relaxed and with a feeling of accomplishment.

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY

While you travel is easy to carry on, go with the amazing places, cultures, activities you do. Listen to your body, usually the body will response to the food, activities and emotions you will go through your travel.

FITNESS TIPS: STAYING FIT WHILE TRAVELING

Look for a bar, tree, door where you can perform your pull ups. I found a playground for kids where I hang, swing, pulled up and did leg raises. I found a pull up bar at the beach bar and challenged a gringo to pull more than him. Well, I did and won a margarita. See, you can always have fun.

Look for ways to challenge yourself. Swim or run on the beach barefoot. I did run and moved my spinal with waves and did Ido Portal’s Motion stuff.

Staying fit while traveling will be no issue in keeping your fitness goals or programs if you keep these tips under your arm. Let me know how did it go in your traveling journey.
